Ac hotel by marriott santa marta9/11/2023 This is the room that was chosen by the hotel for me. I had confirmed check-in via the app a day prior. The front desk attendant said he spoke to management and there were no other rooms available. After 15 minutes, it did not clear up in any of the 3 water spigots (shower, sink, toilet) that I tried. When I called down to the front desk, I was advised of the maintenance and told to run the water for 5 minutes and it would clear up. I discovered this when I enter the room and went to wash my face and use the bathroom. As a result, all water was unusable, meaning no showers or face washing. I had stayed at this hotel several times in recent years without issue, but this past weekend was a particularly horrendous one night stay that I feel compelled to share.Īt check-in, the hotel failed to mention that there was some sort of ongoing maintenance that resulted in contaminated water in the hotel's pipes. A bit of customer courtesy from management would have been well received. Where can I start? As a Titanium Bonvoy member, I've stayed at a several properties over the years, including this hotel. It's pretty a good hike to get to the centro of Santa Marta.maybe 30.000-40.000 cab ride as I recall? Thanks! Only looking at 4 nights total, so was thinking being closer to town for 1.5 days might be nice! It's right next to the airport and in fact is great for watching planes if that's your thing. There are, as always, a ton of hawkers on the beach, but both the Marriott and the condo have a roped-off area where the hawkers can't reach you. It's pretty a good hike to get to the centro of Santa Marta.maybe 30.000-40.000 cab ride as I recall? You get an identical pool and beach, but without the bar/restaurant service). (If the Marriott is sold out/unduly expensive, you can always check the unaffiliated condos right next to the Marriott, Playa Dormida Dos. You may already know Playa Dormida, but if not I'd say if you're looking to just chill out and relax on a nice beach with a nice pool, the Marriott Playa Dormida is a great choice. The location is walkable to the main restaurant nightlife area, but cabs are cheap and plentiful (and advisable after dark).Īll that said, for me Santa Marta is a place to visit for a day or two on the way to somewhere else, but I think a long stay at the AC would be fairly boring. If you're a light sleeper, that might be a consideration. The wind whips off the bay and it makes the windows whistle a bit night. Nice view from the high floors (which I got both times). The AC is a fairly nondescript but perfectly nice hotel, almost always has super-cheap rates, decent breakfast (pre-Covid). I've stayed there twice (and at the Marriott Playa Dormida once).
